V60 Brewing Guide

The V60 from Hario is beloved by baristas and home brewers alike for its ability to showcase subtle notes and clean finishes. With the right care and technique, it delivers a bright and well-structured cup, a true representation of your coffee's origin.

What makes it special?

Its 60° angle, spiral ridges, and single large hole give you control over water flow and extraction time. The result? A nuanced, tea like coffee that’s ideal for light to medium roasts.

How to Brew (1–2 cups)

You’ll need:

  • 15g medium-ground coffee
  • 250g hot water (94–96°C)
  • V60 02, filter paper, carafe/mug
  • Scale + timer

Steps:

  1. Rinse your filter paper to eliminate any papery taste.
  2. Add coffee and tare the scale.
  3. Start timer and bloom with 30g water for 30 seconds.
  4. Slowly add remaining water in concentric circles.
  5. Brew should finish in around 2:30/3:00 minutes.

Tip

Avoid pouring directly onto the filter’s edge. Keep water flow central and steady for even extraction.

Curiosity

The V60 is named for its 60° cone angle, part of what helps create such even
