Nestled in Burundi’s Kayanza province, the Yandaro washing station is renowned for producing some of the country’s finest and cleanest coffees. This honey-processed lot showcases the potential of Red Bourbon grown at high altitude (circa 1800 MASL) by over 2,000 smallholder farmers.
Each cherry is handpicked and carefully selected before being partially pulped, leaving a sticky layer of mucilage on the beans, a defining feature of the honey process. This allows controlled fermentation, imparting complexity and sweetness. The parchment is then dried on raised beds under strict supervision to ensure even drying and optimal flavour development.
Managed by Greenco, Yandaro maintains exceptional traceability and invests in farmer training, eco-friendly infrastructure, and social programmes across the region.
Expect a lively yet refined cup, juicy and sweet, with vibrant acidity and elegant floral and stone fruit notes. This is Burundian coffee at its most expressive: delicate, nuanced, and deeply rewarding.
